Stephane Lemelin, piano and Donna Brown, soprano - Mooredale Concerts
A Heavenly Duo
Two of Canada’s most acclaimed artists will give a unique joint recital.
According to Le Quotidien, in Paris, “Donna Brown is a dream of a singer, an impassioned and poetic interpreter.” She is renowned for the floating, angelic quality of her voice, and quickly became one of the leading sopranos in Europe. She has performed on many of the world’s great opera and concert stages, including Paris, London, Tokyo, Geneva, Berlin, Toronto, Vancouver and Los Angeles and with many renowned conductors, among them Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Helmuth Rilling, Carlo Maria Giulini, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Kurt Mazur and Daniel Barenboim.
Stéphane Lemelin performs regularly across Canada, as well as in the United States, Europe and Asia. A frequent guest of major summer festivals, he has appeared as soloist with many of Canada’s principal orchestras, including the Montreal Symphony under Charles Dutoit. He is also professor of music at the University of Ottawa, where he is the director of the School of Music. Both of these celebrated Canadian artists have made numerous recordings, including one together, Frühlingslieder, featuring various works of Fanny Mendelssohn, Brahms, Schubert, Felix Mendelssohn, Schumann, Liszt and Wolf.
Their program will include Debussy’s Preludes Book 1, three Fauré nocturnes, and songs by Schubert, Mahler and Wolf.
