Adi Nes
Presented by: Koffler Gallery
First Canadian survey of the stunning, bold and often controversial work of the internationally acclaimed photographer.
Nes’ shrewd and meticulously crafted images offer a powerful answer to the question of the role of the artist in a country fraught with conflict. Referencing art history, his interpretations of Biblical, mythological and literary subjects are transposed into a contemporary setting. Informed by a sense of marginality within the Israeli society, Nes’ perspective motivates a meaningful exploration of notions of masculinity and cultural and sexual identity.
