The Faculty of Fine Arts at York University is one of the largest and most comprehensive educational institutions for the fine arts in Canada, and the only program of its kind in the province of Ontario. It brings together a community of close to 3,300 undergraduate and graduate students and 280 full-time and part-time faculty working in all areas of fine arts practice and scholarship. York Fine Arts offers academic studies (history, theory, criticism) and professional training (studio, production, performance) in six disciplines: dance, design, film, music, theatre and visual arts, plus interdisciplinary cultural studies in the fine arts. York Fine Arts programs emphasize contemporary artistic production and processes, including the integration of the new technologies, alongside traditional modes of artistic theory and practice. There is a strong commitment to the inclusion of global cultures, to collaborative and interdisciplinary work, and to intercultural research.
